About the day
World Porridge Day is held every year on 10 October. The Highland village of Carrbridge, home of the World Porridge Making Championships, worked with the Scottish charity Mary's Meals to make it an international day.
Mary's Meals uses the day to raise funds through porridge events at work, school and home. The charity says it feeds more than two million children every school day in 16 countries, serving vitamin-enriched porridge in Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
It suits oat and breakfast brands, cafes, schools, workplaces, food retailers and community groups.
