About the day
The UAE's Month of Reading is held every March. The aim is to build a love of reading among adults and children and make it part of daily life.
The plan was announced in May 2016 alongside a National Reading Law and a ten-year National Reading Strategy. The first Month of Reading took place in October 2016, with March set as the reading month each year from 2017.
The UAE Cabinet set March as the national reading month. The UAE National Reading Index measures reading habits across the country.
