About the day

UAE Flag Day is held on 3 November, the anniversary of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan becoming President of the UAE in 2004.

It was declared by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in 2012. At 11am, government departments, schools and companies raise the national flag together.

Flag Day is not a public holiday. It opens the run of national occasions that leads to Commemoration Day on 30 November and Eid Al Etihad on 2 December.
