About the day

Saudi Flag Day falls on 11 March each year. King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, set the day by royal order on 1 March 2023.

The date recalls 11 March 1937, when King Abdulaziz approved the flag in its current form. The flag is green, with the Shahada, the Islamic declaration of faith, above a sword.

The flag is never flown at half-mast. The day is marked as a national occasion.
