About the day
On Raksha Bandhan sisters tie a rakhi, a decorated thread, around their brothers' wrists, and brothers give gifts and promise their care in return. It falls on the full moon of the month of Shravan and is a notable gifting date in UK South Asian communities. Hindu festival dates follow the lunar calendar and can vary by a day between regions and communities.
