About the day
National Lost Sock Memorial Day falls on 9 May. It is a light-hearted day for saying goodbye to odd socks that have lost their pairs.
Denver7 reported a 2016 study commissioned by Samsung which found people lose an average of 15 socks a year. One suggestion for the day is to turn single socks into puppets for children.
It suits sock and clothing brands, laundry and appliance makers, dry cleaners, homeware retailers and textile recycling schemes.
