About the day
NAIDOC Week grew out of Aboriginal rights campaigns of the 1920s and the 1938 Day of Mourning. It moved to July in 1955 and has run from the first to the second Sunday in July since 1975. The National NAIDOC Committee sets a theme each year, and 2026 runs from 5 to 12 July.
