About the day
Shiraz Day is held on the fourth Thursday of July. Mastermind Consulting, which works with Australian and New Zealand wineries on varietal wine days, launched it on 23 July 2020.
Shiraz is one of the most popular and versatile grape varieties in Australia, grown in regions such as the Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale and the Hunter Valley. In 2026 the day fell on 23 July.
It suits wineries, wine merchants and importers, drinks retailers, restaurants, wine tourism businesses and drinks media. Messages should be responsible and aimed at adults who choose to drink.
