About the day

Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving held on the Tuesday after US Thanksgiving, following Black Friday and Cyber Monday. It was created in 2012 at the 92nd Street Y in New York and has grown into a movement across six continents.

People are encouraged to give money, time, skills or goods to causes they care about. In the UK the campaign is run with the Chartered Institute of Fundraising, and in 2026 it falls on Tuesday 1 December.
