About the day
National Tequila Day falls on 24 July in the United States. Its history is unclear: an early version was reportedly held by Utah State University students in 1974, and tequila brands, bars and restaurants later settled on 24 July.
In May 2026 Mexico published a decree moving its own National Day of Tequila from the third Saturday of March to 24 July, to match the customary International Tequila Day.
The day suits tequila and agave spirits brands, bars and Mexican restaurants, drinks retailers, mixer makers and hospitality groups. Messages should be responsible and aimed at adults who choose to drink.
