About the day
World Pistachio Day falls on 26 February. A 2010 press release from Paramount Farms, which grows Wonderful Pistachios, said the company established the day.
Pistachios originated in the Middle East and were first planted in California in the 1930s. Growers and research bodies use the date to share production and consumption figures, and media outside the US, including in Mexico, also mark it.
The day suits nut growers and brands, snack makers, bakers, ice cream and dessert makers, health food retailers and food media.
