About the day
Global Fatty Liver Day is a worldwide public education campaign about steatotic, or fatty, liver disease. It is held on the second Thursday of June and was formerly known as International NASH Day.
The Global Liver Institute, a US nonprofit, launched the day in June 2018 and hosts it each year. The 2026 edition was held on 11 June under the message "Act Now", building on a World Health Organization resolution on noncommunicable diseases.
The day suits liver and gastroenterology charities, healthcare providers, pharmacies, diagnostics and pharmaceutical companies, nutrition and weight management services, and workplace health programmes.
