About the day

Laylat al-Qadr, often called the Night of Power, is one of the most important nights in Islam. The Qur'an describes it as "better than a thousand months". Its exact date is not known, so Muslims seek it on the odd-numbered nights of the last ten days of Ramadan, and it is widely marked on the 27th night.

Worshippers spend the night in prayer. In 2025, the Grand Mosque in Makkah received more than 4.2 million worshippers on the 27th night, according to Arab News.

The UAE's Astronomy Centre projects that Ramadan 2027 will begin on 8 February. On that basis the 27th night would fall on the evening of 5 March 2027. This is an estimate, and the actual date depends on the sighting of the Ramadan moon.
