About the day
Gulf Children's Day is observed by the Gulf Cooperation Council countries every year on 15 January. It recognises efforts in child care and supports children's rights to health and education.
Each year has a health focus. In 2026 the Saudi Ministry of Health focused its materials on reducing childhood obesity, encouraging healthy eating, daily physical activity, safe use of technology and good sleep routines.
Marking the day in 2026, GCC Secretary General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi pointed to joint work such as the "Digital Safety for the Gulf Child" initiative, which targets children aged 5 to 18.
