About the day

The Unified GCC Traffic Week is an annual road safety campaign run by traffic authorities in the Gulf Cooperation Council states. It aims to raise awareness of road safety and encourage responsible behaviour among drivers and pedestrians.

The 38th edition in 2026 ran under the theme "I Cross Safely". In Oman, where the Royal Oman Police led the programme, it ran from 3 to 7 May. In Qatar, the Ministry of Interior's General Directorate of Traffic ran events from 3 to 8 May, combined with World Traffic Day and Arab Traffic Week.

Activities include awareness exhibitions in shopping malls, educational events and interactive sessions on traffic laws and road etiquette. Dates are set each year, so check national announcements for future editions.
