About the day
Saudi Green Initiative Day is held every year on 27 March. It marks the launch of the Saudi Green Initiative (SGI) on 27 March 2021, and the Council of Ministers approved the day on 19 March 2024.
The day aims to raise awareness of the Kingdom's climate progress and encourage people to help build a greener future. The first edition, in 2024, ran under the slogan "For Our Today and Their Tomorrow: KSA Together for a Greener Future".
SGI targets include cutting carbon emissions by 278 MTPA by 2030, growing 10 billion trees across the Kingdom, and protecting 30% of Saudi Arabia's land and sea by 2030.
