About the day
The Orange Shirt Society, an Indigenous-led and Survivor-founded charity, leads the day. It grew from a 2013 reunion of former St. Joseph Mission residential school students in Williams Lake, BC, and from Phyllis Webstad's story of having her new orange shirt taken from her at the school.
